Individual member self weight factors

When dealing with scaffold structures it is common to factor individual component self-weight to account for welding, galvanisation etc. Component self-weight is rarely just the cross-sectional area density. Is there currently already a way to achieve this? Could it be something to add :).

I imagine the best way to control this at the member level is to modify the density of the material used for that section and therefore the member's using that section.
